This means the whole map is his / her playground, unlike most players who commit to a single side and then wonder why they keep losing. ![]() A good player plays the game with his eyes open, not just focussed on his own ship, but on every single ship in the battle. ![]() This is because beyond the ship itself a good player has a good grasp of the maps, good situational awareness, an awareness of the general strategies that play out on the maps, when to take advantage of players who are oblivious of game mechanics, etc etc etc. Essentially all my salvos would end up as overpens, shatters or bounces, even on broadside cruisers, which is why I took the job of DD killer because good aim on them cannot be fudged by bad - A good player will make even the worst ship look good. Up to the premier league my average damage was over 100k, but in the premier league it was more often in the low 50k region. My role in the NC ended up being the nose tank DD killer mainly, with the rare RNG blessed CA HE spammer Dev strike. The ships I singled out were the most effective at that (German BBs were there for the absurdly long range of their secondaries meaning they often got permanent fires on other BBs just by getting within 10Km, kept DDs at range because of the same and in the case of the Tirps it could easily charge nose on any BB and kill them with torps after having already set them on fire with over 200 secondary shell hits). ![]() In my opinion, the meta this season was DD knife fights at close range and HE spam at medium to long range. The lack of options in port and having just a 10 point captain in either made it especially long.įrom what I saw, the easiest Rank 1s were achieved with Bensons and Loyangs in DDs, Atagos and Chappas on Cruisers, Tirp/Biz at BBs (with the odd competent flanking Amagi at times), and no CVs (apart from those that played them purely at the top bracket just to play the lottery on them). For example, I got to Rank 1 with an NC, but that is because it was my only T8 at the time (alongside the NO).
